Hi,
As a new SM/Pilot what forms/test/courses do I need to have finished before I can even start flying with, say, a CAP instructor?

I have been taking tests and reading through courses online to keep myself busy.

thanks!

Although CAP Talk is a great forum and can offer you information from it's followers I would like to recomend that you use CAP Knowledge base as well. I have as an icon on my computer screen and have found it's information to be correct. The best part is you can get instant information rather than posting here at CAP Talk and then waiting for someone to reply.

CAPR 60-1 will not answer all your questions, nor will CAP knowledge base.  There is more required that is not stated.  Contact a CAP pilot and/or check pilot in your area.  Every wing is different. Here is a list sent to me awhile back.  This should get you started.
Please make sure you have completed (and bring copies of the Completion Certs) for:
OPSEC
GROUND HANDLING
ISO 100 AND 700
ORIENTATION PILOT TEST CERTIFICATE
THE ANNUAL 60-1 COURSE/TEST
STATEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING (signed)
ORM BASIC AND INTERMEDIATE
EQUAL OPPORTUNITY

Please also bring copies of
Log book indicating (50 hrs XC, 200 PIC)
FAA Pilot Cert (both sides)
FAA Medical
FAA CFI (both sides)
Evidence of FAA Flight Review within last 2 yrs
Blank CAPF5
Blank or completed Aircraft Questionnaire
