I am a recent new SM. For the couple of meetings I have been to, I have noticed that the SM's wear a veriety of uniforms. At the last meeting, one guy was wearing his flight suit, antother the blue BDU's and there were a couple of guys in the CAP distictive blues. So far, all I have is the Air Force stlye Camo BDU's. Would they be appropriate for a general business meeting?  I ordered a golf shift but I won't have it for a couple of days. Is there any protocal as to which uniform to wear to what?

In all the units I've been in, the UOD was determined by the commander prior to each meeting.  For example, right now my unit does this:

WEEK 1 : Polo
WEEk 2 : BDUs or equiv
WEEK 3 : BDUs or equiv
WEEK 4 : Blues or equiv
WEEK 5 : TBD

Smoothice,

Generally, SMs can wear any of the authorized uniform combinations (and as you've noticed, they will).  If you meet the weight/grooming for the AF style BDU, that is an appropriate wear for a normal squadron meeting night.  Although, check with your commander or another senior member as to any local preferences.  In our unit, we try to wear combinations that match the cadet Uniform of the Day (i.e. BDU or BBDU on BDU night, aviator or corporate or AF blues on dress blues night, squadron alternate uniform on alternate nights), but the golf shirt is a popular choice among many of our SMs (especially if you are heading directly to the meeting from work).

That said, here on CAPTALK, I'm sure any uniform question will be met with about one million other opinions, so YMMV.  :P

The BDU's are a valid option, just be sure to check with your squadron about which uniform to wear which night.  From what you've said, it sounds like the choice may be up to you.

One point:  whatever uniform combination you wear, make sure you wear it properly - appropriate insignia, ironed, buttoned, etc.

For sure check with your unit commander. This is always and issue because some units don't have a set schedule as to what uniform to wear for what meeting. If you can't get ahold of your CC or DCS, then I would suggest wearing what you have. If you have the blues, where them. If you have the corporate uniform, wear that. Once you get the polo, you can wear this every meeting if you wish unless you are specifically instructed to wear a certain uniform.

Every unit does things differently. Check with your Commander and find out if their is a schedule.
