If you look at this website, the photo of the grey airplane number 6226 appears to be from the same angle of your photo. If you look under the wing there is that semicircular tubing, the radiator, and the exhaust arrangement is similar in both photos. If not for TheSky initial assessment of your photo as it being a Jenny I would not have found this.

The immediate indicator on the Jenny is the nose with that semi-circle-to-square block shape. Add in the "skids" under the wings, and then the exhaust. The pipes in that photo are hard to see, but that's another distinct feature.

I have to retract my assumption that it's a JN-4. It could be a -2 or -3. I'm not an expert enough to really spot the differences. Some of them had engine cowlings added too to cover the manifold.
