Hey Guys,
I have a quick question. My next meeting is on Jan 2, and I was wondering if I should get my cadet staff and senior members gifts.

There are just 9 people I need to give gifts to.

Should I?

Thanks,

I would suggest "no".

If the spirit is moving you beyond resistance, do something nice like
pizza or donuts or a hippie veggie tray.

If you give gifts to 9, you risk #10 feeling slighted.

It's a nice gesture that recognizes persons who step up and contribute.  I'd suggest giving the gifts in private, rather that with public fanfare.  One aspect of leadership is building and maintaining relationships.  Part and parcel to that is acknowledging and thanking people who contribute to the success of the unit (and to you).  IMHO, personal gifts (not large ones, but ones with meaning) are valued by recipients.  If you might be concerned that an overlooked No 10 or No 11 might exist do the pizza and veg tray for a larger group.  Alternatively (or to augment) personal gifts, make a point of nominating deserving staff for the many and varied awards CAP offers, and that often go wanting for lack of nominees.
