There's a sarex that's in a couple of weeks and I wanted to know what all the tests and requirements are?
Any tips are helpful too.

Have you talked with the ES folks in your own unit? Have you been in contact with the SAREX project officer? They usually put out an announcement concerning time, place, and specific requirements.

At the very least, you need to have completed all of the General ES requirements. You may also have to have the Fam and Prep requirements in one specialty completed. Only your local leadership can provide that info.

Go here, and look up the requirements for the different specialties.

Depends on who's throwing it. A SAREX is usually just a good excuse for the Wing ES guy to see who can do what. There might be an Air Force guy there watching, there might not be.

Depending on what you choose to do, make sure that you are at least in trainee status on your 101 card for whatever specialty you are working on. For instance, if you want to be on a ground team, make sure that you are in trainee status for GTM3.

Bring your 24 hour gear and either lunch or money for lunch. Around these parts, we don't do much at all on Sunday unless we HAVE to. Church is more important than CAP to a lot of people in my wing.

Make sure you have at least a working knowledge of all your equipment. Sometimes, even if you come to a SAREX with a whole team, they might split you up and make you work with some other people that you don't know.

There are no tests, just make sure you know what you're doing when someone asks you what that wooden thing with metal box and antennas is for. It's not pass/fail until you get to a SAREVAL, which is an Air Force graded exercise. Mainly, a SAREVAL is just a way for the Air Force to make sure that we know what we're doing at the Wing level. Even then you aren't graded, just the Wing.
Still a major after all these years.
