It is a bit busy and hard to read.  I would suggest not choosing such a dark background and using less contrasty colors.  I would also not use the blinking text and flag icon.  Remember, to start out, simple is better.  I would make a page that had a very clean, sleek look to it using lighter colors.  If you like the red/blue scheme, try to use lighter versions of the colors and blend in some grey or silver rather than using straight-out-of-the-box colors.

I would also add some photos.

Also, I recommend making sure that all grammar/punctuation/capitalization, etc. is correct for something as visible as a website.

Good luck.

yes very hard to read & hurts the eyes. Loads slow. Looks like a kid just found the functions on the designed & had to use them all at once. Dump the flag mouse pointer. Look around at some others, some business pages, some major non-profit types. Put together something w/ a slick professional appearance that looks like a million bucks & operates easily for both visitors looking for information & links quickly to details for your internal members looking for a dif class of info. It's not hard, just spend some time doing research before you sit down to do it. I didn't check your content, but make sure you understand this is a prime recruiting source for your Sq.

Just a thought, as a beginning step it may be helpful to use a blog service such as blogger.com or something.  That way, you can login, choose the layout you like best, and post news, photos, meeting times, etc. on it very quickly and easily with a great looking layout.

Then in the future, if you are ready to make your own website, you will have had more time to check out some others and see what you do and don't like!

P.S.  If you are set on having blinking text, make sure people have long enough to read the page before it goes on to the next.  I have a lot of trouble reading what has been written before it goes on to the next.

I have to agree with the comments posted.   Sometimes a lot of bells and whistles will work against you.  Watch your spelling and grammer too.  Surf the web and look at what other websites have going for them.  Don't try to reinvent the wheel but use what works.

Yeah i agree the delay on the blinking text isn't long enough. And i am waiting for the captain to send some photos for it. I am looking at getting better colors or at least on the buttons.
