Don't laugh so hastily ... Bolivia does indeed have a Navy. Sure, they're landlocked, and only have a river or two and part of Lake Titicaca for the Navy, but they have one.
Maybe eBay has Bolivian Navy stuff on it?
Jack
Why waste time on E-bay? Just buy a TPU and change the sleeve lace and lapel brass!

Oh, I'm well aware. They just pretty much kept their Navy after their lost their access to the sea to Chile in their little spat. In fact, each year on the annivsary of the conflict, the Bolivians ask Chile to give them the land back. Heh.
But I guess the Navy (which has one ship IIRC), patrols for crimes on Lake Titicaca (sp?).
YMMV.

Where can I get the wide silver braid, though? I know Vanguard won't sell it to me (though they did sell me a pair of Brig Gen epaulets for my collection -- and they're supposed to have a pair of Maj Gen on back order for me).

Is this honor similar to being in the Great Navy of North or South Dakota? Or Colorado? Maybe the Kingdom of Laos?
Or the Army of Atlantis?

So far as I know, yes. The contact information is somewhere on CAPTalk, but I don't recall which message or in which area.

Nebraska has had a Navy since 1931. You can request a commission as an admiral from the Governor.

Waitaminnit ... only the Governor of Nebraska can demote me to Ordinary Seaman ... or any
other kind of seaman!!! ;D But you are correct, it should have read "bosun's pipe" and I stand corrected. (I also know it's boatswain, not bosun, but hey -- if it's good enough for Hornblower it's good enough for me.)
What the heck ... I was in the Air Force, fer cryin' out loud.

I would totally spring to become a New York Admiral, but apparently New York actually has a real naval militia - one of the few states that does. Guess I'll have to settle for putting myself in for it in Nebraska. ;D
I just find it real funny that Nebraska, a land locked state, has a Navy. They must be patrolling the Missouri River. ;D
Now Mississippi and Alabama I can see. Although I can also picture a bunch of good ol' boys riding in their bass boats with their huntin' rifles. :D

What does one need to do for the Great State of Nebraska, anyways?
I just sent my request in.

My commission arrived first. I have you by date of rank. ;D >:D

I just submitted my request for a Commision in the Nebraska Navy with the following justification: "I have always been an advocate for the great state of Nebraska and hope to offer my services as a sailor when you declare war on California"
Capt. Lord
p.s. Can we Keel haul Governor Schwarzenneger? Does Nebraska have any "men of war"? Where is Nebraska?
"Admiral Nominee Kachenmeister has defended Nebraska and 49 other states as an Army and Air Force Auxiliary officer, and seeks to defend the seacoasts from attack."
Got mine Yesterday ;D ;D ;D Turns out that my Great-Grandmother was an Admiral in the Navy of the Great State of Nebraska.
Turns out that in the 1930's the Lt. Covenor was Acting Govenor for a few weeks, and he wanted to give a few of his buddies a favor so he commisioned them as admirls.

ummm yeah. Last I checked
I was just commissioned as an Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska, I expect to be piped aboard as such at the next squadron meeting!! Any one failing to address me as Admiral shall be keel hauled! (can anyone send me the keel hauling instruction manual?)
Does vanguard sell Nebraska Navy flag officer shoulder boards?? Maybe they can be the exclusive provider for the Nebraska Navy uniform items! ;D
I just framed my commission on the wall between my Commanders Commendation award and my Yeager award. Hey i just had a great idea... maybe I'll take it and post it in the interview room at work and make all these Einsteins I arrest call me Admiral Meiners. Of course some of them are stupid enough to probably believe the Nebraska Navy base is located on the Nebraska coast line and services all the ocean going Navy vessels. Hey, If they weren't stupid, they probably wouldn't have gotten arrested!
Admiral John
How long does it take before you get your commission as admiral?
^ There is a "date needed by field," and it says to allow 2 to 3 weeks for processing.
Thanks. I forgot about that "date needed by field".
The one I applied for for my uncle came in under a week.
Nebraska Admirals outrank CAP Major Generals. Yes.

Alright fellow Admirals, have any of you taken the next step and joined the Nebraska Admirals Association?
Quote
NAA's primary purpose is to organize the Admirals in the Nebraska Navy into a force for the promotion and enhancement of the "Good Life of the State of Nebraska," specifically:
To promote education and educational activities throughout the state
To promote tourism in the state
To promote Nebraska products
To enhance Nebraska's agricultural industry
To seek and save Nebraska's sea
To develop and maintain ports throughout the state
To enjoy fun activities such as "walking the plank"
To build Nebraska pride and esprit de corps
To recycle Nebraska's assets
To increase the fleet of flagships of the Nebraska Navy
To continue efforts to have U.S. Naval ships named after Nebraska, its people and places.
I wonder what these "directions" are that we will be sent...

How can that be done with a straight face?

We could use
other tactics...strategically place Nebraskan Admirals as commanders at all levels, then when we have them in place, vote out those we don't want/need or find lame reasons to fire them. Then, we can invent our own uniform by bringing back the McPeak Jacket which will represent the new "naval" side of CAP...

My reasoning for nomination as a Nebraska Admiral
Greetings and Salutations,
The glorious State of Nebraska hath no equal in the modest purview of this scalawag. Whilst engaging in social frivolity in the land of Iowa, I have many times made the pilgrimage to the Port of Omaha to engage in interstate commerce. I have personally secured passage for numerous cases of fine ale, purchased in the Great State of Nebraska, for the purpose of consumption by my gallant crew. Inasmuch as I am indebted to the Admiralty and the Great State of Nebraska for the availability of said grog, I hereby request a commission as Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska, so that I may serve the greater good while imbibing Nebraskan ale.
Very Respectfully,
Kevin M Myers
Then I realized they only wanted three lines....ooops. Maybe they'll make me a Beer Admiral
