The visible count of total posts is now north of 295,000 so we should be approaching the 300,000 actual post level. It could be any minute now (unless it has already happened).
I wonder what the odds of being the 300,000th poster with my 400th post and have it all happen on my third anniversary as a registered CAP Talk poster....
Still need over 1100 posts to hit the 300,000 mark, sorry.
That won't take too long to reach though.
As long as Eclipse and RiverAux keep up their hard work.
Depends how you count, too.
The 300,000th time the "Post" button has been clicked (and the post with ID# 300000) will show up when the board only has less than 300,000 visible posts. A number of posts have been deleted over the years (spam, site policy violations, accidental double posts, the old "sandbox" section full of test posts, etc.) so not every post that has been made is still on the site. So the 300,000 visible post will come later.
We have a little while. This post is msg ID 298907. Another thousand and change to go.
Heck, just starting another ABU or corporate uniform thread would take us half way through the required 1,100 posts!

There's still one going on, don't worry! ;D
My latest post is 299644...is that overall or not counting the actual removed/hidden posts?
Out of curiosity, where does one look (without being a mod or an admin of course) to see the actual post number of an individual post?
I see it only when I click reply/edit etc a post. Quick reply obviously doesn't show it, but it would be in the URL box.

Hover your mouse over a post title and you can see the post number/msg ID in the link, which appears at the end after the "#"

The excitement is building. (Yes, I also watch for my odomoeter to turn over a new 1,000 miles--I am not exactly sure what that says about me.)

Milestone for the forum.
Last time around we discovered 200K had already happened and I got the lucky number. A mod/admin edited it into my forum account.
300,000th poster will get the same "special title" (if they want it) that the 200,000th poster got (usafaux2004).
I'm going to lock this thread because I think we're "padding the count" a little here; we're not really discussing anything here. ;) I'll unlock it after the 300,000th if people still want to comment.
