If I try to visit captalk.net from work I get:

I do know there are several CAP members who work here (larger organization).  Is it possible the system banned the IP address automatically because multiple members tried to login from one location?

You must work with one of our problem children.

Could be, we have about 9,000 employees at 85 locations...

You won't all have the same IP.

Oh really? I used to work for a big company that had many offices and all of our IPs were routed through Texas regardless of our physical location.

Yeah, actually most will have the same public IP address.  I'd know, I'm the IT Security guy and I monitor most of that traffic.

D'oh!

(and don't say "but that would be routing traffic all over the place" .. )

...as in.. that's how the internet works :)

Many a large multi-location organization routes -everything- from within their scope via a single point. Kinda makes filtering, enforcing corporate policy, etc- pretty darn simple.

Right here. Right now. Done.

I'll look in to it tomorrow when I get free time on a real computer. Doing security stuff on a phone browser is a pain.

Routing through one place would probably cause a lot of QoS issues. Cheaper, but not as good service.

One IP for each physical location is definitely workable (unless we are talking about a data center, of course).

Routing through one place is how most companies and consumers are connected to the Internet.

Corporate IT is not about service...

rframe, it would help if you could PM to Jerry, MIKE, or me the IP address you're coming from.  Our ban trigger logs have hundreds of blocks registering a day; I can't tell what IP is from your work.  Thanks!

This new information puts your other topic in the most excellent perspective.

Who at work have you heard expressing a poo poo opinion of CAP lately? :P

Hahaha.  Actually I've only talked to one and he's been very encouraging and helpful as I've looked into joining.

LOL... well, we know it's not RM then. ;)
From the outside, I can't help but feel sorry for those at Westover. Oh well.

You must have a very tolerant employer. At AT&T use of a company computer for personal business is grounds for termination.
