Here's another ES related potential qualification that it easy to get by attending a 3 hour training session given by the National Weather Service.

See:  http://www.crh.noaa.gov/lmk/spotter_reference/

My understanding is MA Wing is having this training in the near future.

NOAA came to the National board when it was in Cincinati Oh. (2000-2001?) and trained on how CAP could be involved in the SkyWatch program. I attended the training and nothing came to pass. Being a weather nerd; I would love to see this happen.

Our unit has done the spotter training before.  You get a nice certificate, and if you feel so inclined, you can basically call in weather reports from time to time until your spotter "certification" lapses.  If you're not so inclined, they won't bother you or anything once you have the training.
