OK.. ECWS GEN I vs. GEN III

OK.

So I've read this..

My "read" on this is that the version changes only affect under layers of the clothing system and that the Gore-Tex Parka shells have not been changed (except for the camo pattern).

Anyone out there wearing this stuff all of the time know the difference to explain to a non-RM type?

I got the new ABU gortex.....it does not have a liner, the hood has a pouch so it can be rolled up and stowed, the zipper has a finer tooth pattern so it does not need the overlapping wind screen.  Also the zipper does not have bottom to top option like the Gen I gortex.

All in all....the Gen III stuff is much better.

There is some differences in the arrangement of pockets as well, on the gore-tex shell.  Nothing too important.

The self healing zipper was a big one.  I have quite a few cadinks that had to have zippers replaced on the gen I jackets

Can you even get anything above Gen II in woodland camo?

Not in gore-tex.  At least not that I've found

They go however make a hyvat version

When shopping... How does one tell Gen I from Gen II?  Considering there is no "information" telling you that it is one or the other?

What is the difference between Hyvat and Goretex? I have been assuming that they were two names for the same material...

Different manufacturer, I am not sure if there is any noticeable difference in quality, feel, or performance
