A person asked why a wing should or should not conduct a Cadet Leadership Encampment.
Please share your experience.  What were the broad-scope benefits and deficits associated with the experience, for both the cadets and the wing.  An economy of words is appreciated.  Experience, only; limit opinions, please.

What is a "Cadet Leadership Encampment"?

Wings host "Encampments" as well as all manner
of different leadership academies, BCTs, etc., which
are different activities with different goals, requirements,
and authorization for execution.

So a great part of the NYWG Leadership Encampment is that it gets cadets off to a great start in the program, teaching them all the basics that they need to know. The program is also an amazing opportunity for Cadet Cadre to gain leadership and staff training.

"Cadet Leadership Encampment" is the long form of "encampment."  Thank you for the question.

No, it's literally not.

As to "as person's" question - wings execute encampments because they are a required
component of the cadet program which they are all but mandated to host.

From CAPP 52-24, page 2:
https://www.capmembers.com/media/cms/Encampment_Manual_June_2014_1F6A5D093CD05.pdf
"Encampment showcases the Cadet Program's regimented, military-like training
model in a positive, age-appropriate manner consistent with CAP and Air Force
traditions. Encampments operate at a higher level of intensity in respect to the
military aspects of cadet life than virtually any other cadet activity, short of some
of the premiere NCSAs. The strictness, rigor, sense of urgency, and overall expectations
of military bearing will be markedly more challenging at encampment – yet
still age-appropriate – compared with a weekly squadron meeting or Saturday field
exercise."

There are no "deficits", per se, which are unique to encampments, other then the manageable risks
inherent in any large-scale activity involving adolescents.

So it may be a version of a long form encampment, but it's by no means the long form of encampment. Because there is no such thing, at least in any of NHQ's publications. So what ARWG does will likely be different that what NYWG does (as two wings mentioned here of having this type of activity).

So when you ask us for our opinion of the ARWG "Cadet Leadership Encampment", most of us have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Is there a curriculum posted or that you can share with us to give us a better idea of what your activity entails?

That said, what exactly is the NYWG "Cadet Leadership Encampment"? Once we define that, then we can better answer the original Q.

Based on any number of obsolete websites, it appears to be what NYWG calls their regular Encampment.

The OP didn't ask about NYWG, specifically.

OK, reposted with the correct Q at the bottom.

I think we're arguing semantics here, along with some differing events in different wings.

Encampment, in my experience, is usually restricted to the event mandated in the 52-16 and the 52-24. Generally held during the summer, they may also happen in other parts of the year, depending on how a wing wants to do things. They have a fairly fixed agenda, and contact hour requirement.

Other "leadership" activities usually have different titles, to distinguish them from the events in the previous paragraph. CAWG has their versions, called Cadet [leadership level] School. Other wings have different titles for their equivalent activities. These can be shorter, and have a narrower focus.

That said, what exactly would be the ARWG "Cadet Leadership Encampment"? Once we define that, then we can better answer the original Q.
