Hello all, I checked to see if I could sign on from the ship and well, here I am! Welcome aboard the USS Peleliu somewhere out in the middle of the Pacific. We're on the way to Guam and should be there in a few days. While there we will pick up three AF nurses (CAPtalk tie in) and start steaming towards the Philippines. Our mission is to take a grey hull into several ports and do good things from a unique platform! This includes medical/ dental and construction projects in underserved areas. I'll keep you updated as I can (hopefully they won't block this site as they do from the land based gov't computers!).
Keep us in your prayers, we don't have any escort ships and we're certainly not configured for combat. We will have several NGO's on board (Operation Smile, Red Cross, etc). We have tenative schedules for PI in areas that have rebel forces in the area. Following that we will steam towards Viet Nam. I'll try to keep you in the loop.
That's all for now...

Hello all,
Well, we'll  be pulling into Guam tomorrow. The big news on the ship today is that we have a shipmate that was picked up by the Oakland Athletics for the 2007 draft (any "A's" fans out there?) Now the Navy has to release him to pursue a career in MLB! Congrats to him!
The past few days have been watching different departments do training. Several people got "O" rides on the MH-56 this morning, there were so many people interested in going so they had to choose the more junior enlisted, well, they deserve it! Like I said, we're not combat loaded so we don't have harriers or other helicopters. Just a few MH-56's, 1 LCAC, and a couple of LCU's.
The fun stuff was watching the 25mm, M-60, and small arms be deployed against the opressive H2O regime. Unfortunatly, the recent war against the water was a draw (the water wins in the bigger picture). Right now, the Marine Corps Band is playing a deck down in the enlisted galley and sounding pretty good (I'm on the O1 level in medical if anybody knows how the LHA's are set up)....think I'll go down and listen for awhile....
We'll leave Guam Monday and be back "on the road again" to do good for people in the Philippines...

^^  Just wondering if you will arrive at the American Naval Base "we" gave up?  Wow....they don't want the US there.....but when we drop off medical supplies or offer to fix teeth.......then they are all "we like Americans".  Have fun in the Philippines!  I hear diamonds are cheap there.
What's up monkeys?
