Read many things about packing on here for encampment but what I still do not have an answer for is an IRON. Do I bring one or not?

Is it on the packing list?
If yes (mandatory) - bring it.
If yes (optional) - Do you know how to use it?
If yes - will you have time and room to use it?
If yes - bring it.
If no - don't.
If no - don't.
If no - don't bring it.

Really, cadet. Your "Google-Fu" needs sharpening.
10 second search on "Texas Wing CAP Winter Encampment", third or so result down is:
http://www.texascadet.org/winter-encampment.html
On the right side of the screen, the "Cadet Packing List" is:
http://nebula.wsimg.com/41530b796cc4b66caf5ed41effcb10d7?AccessKeyId=1F97C13E1D4F9D7A654E&disposition=0&alloworigin=1
Lower right side of the sheet, it clearly states: "Iron and spray starch (HIGHLY recommended)"
Since you need to report in on Monday or so, and since many stores will be closed for Christmas, you've cut this to the last minute. Get it in gear, cadet. Have a good time!

Sounds like they were asking if anyone familiar with TXWG encampments would know if it is necessary to bring a fairly bulky piece of equipment he may not even need. Not for random SMs from other states to jump down their throat about asking a reasonable question. Why can't you just refrain from replying with these types of comments if you have nothing helpful to contribute? A lot of times basic cadets have no need to take irons and starch to encampments.

Both Spam and Arajca comments were on the spot. Spam's was more useful, as this cadet cut it to the last minute and possibly could not read the list appropriately.
However Arajca's comments still were on the spot.
Then we have a killjoy that is complaining but offering no sound advice.
If it was on the list, there is no need to ask that question!
Moderators, advice asked and given. Can we please lock this before it becomes a back-and-forth?
