Looking at the Vanguard on-line catalog, there are two styles of vests.
The "regular" vest that costs $25 and the breakaway vests that cost $9.95.
So what's the difference between the two?
We're looking for replacements for our Road Guard vests for encampment and are looking at buying 30 of them.

Screen printing, body length, closure (velcro vs. zipper).

You can money by looking elsewhere.

$6.25 ea. Zipper closure. One location, one color screen printing is available for $0.99 each.

We specifically do not want zippers. Zippers break. Don't need any printing. Just need something that meets ANSI Class II to make the Wing Commander happy.

Zippers should be fine for something that is used a week or two a year.  Certainly wouldn't spend $750 on vests from Vanguard.

In the interests of being helpful, this was near the top of a google search: http://www.prosafetysupplies.com/class-ii-orange-mesh-safety-vest-velcro-closure-cordova.html?gclid=CMni_d3l-7kCFbAWMgod0VAALA

You could buy that many of them for $5.24 each.

If the difference between the cheaper source is an added zipper, that is otherwise in the same place as the one that has none, and would otherwise flap in the breeze, then what's the difference?

If it costs significantly less, that's more money for other things CP.

This is a great product. They are mesh, so they are cooler to wear. The zippers seem to be sturdy enough. They have heavy duty plastic teeth.

We got them for our squadron, and the price has come down since then. Get them one size larger than you might normally get. Then it will fit over cold weather gear.

Okay guys. I asked a very specific question because I needed a specific answer.
We have directed to get the vests from Vanguard.
We have been directed to not get vests with zippers.
They have to be ANSI Class 2 certified.

I'm asking for a mod to lock this thread. It was probably a mistake to post it here in the first place.
