Could anybody give me a simple break-down of what a squadron has to do to request DDR funds?  I read CAPR 51-1, but it only gives instructions for wings and regions.  No, I'm not going to fill out the DDR fund request, I'm putting together the DDR Continuity Book for my squadron.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Your best source for this information would be your wing DDR officer.

Unfortunately, we don't have one.  The whole wing is rather dead when it comes to DDR.  I'm trying to get my squadron's DDR program up and running, and if it works, we'll show other squadrons our continuity book and help them get DDR off the ground.

Go higher. Check with Region or National.

sorry to raise a dead thread, however being one of those wing DDR types....

There is a (now not so) new funding request process.  If your requesting items that are on the DDR Catalog found on the NHQ/DDR site, then you would fill out a DDR Form 1A, found on the same site, if not then Form 1B would be your friend.  This form, and I think the Form 1C (going off of memory here, haven't gotten any of these forms since I was appointed) would be sent up to your wing DDRA who then coordinates with wing king, the region DDRC and NHQ.  The process is spelled out in more detail on the NHQ/DDR site found at http://www.cap.gov/ddr

Hope this helps.

The unit requesting funds must be within 30 miles of an active USAF Base, or another service base with at least 100 USAF personnel stationed there.

There are other hoops, but that is usually the biggest one.

In addition to the direct program funds, there are some matching or percentage funds for stuff with the DDR logo - t-shirts being the most common.

All must be coordinated by your Wing-level DDR officer.  Which is usually hurdle #2.

from what I'm hearing from my bosses, 30 mile rule no longer applies.  The DDR funding applies to ALL units, groups, wings and regions (quote from http://level2.cap.gov/visitors/programs/drug_demand_reduction/new_ddr_budget_process.cfm )

T-Shirts are no longer an approved DDR Funded item, there are other items however which can be useful such as Fatal Vision Goggles, DDR displays (all wings should have received a rather nice one within the last couple of months) a full catalog can be found at http://level2.cap.gov/visitors/programs/drug_demand_reduction/ddr_catalog/
