Title: GT Gear
Post by: SDF_Specialist on September 04, 2007, 12:23:20 AM
Does anyone happen to know where I can find the list of things required to be in a 24-hour pack? I've only ever used one that's been issued to me, and I'm looking to get one of my own.

Sorry, I have to ask...

What did you use issued gear for if you don't know where the task book is?

One of the first pieces of required gear is the book itself.

He's a commo guy.  Perhaps he had a 24 hr kit (that he was issued or borrowed) for doing commo stuff at mission base, or perhaps for another agency.

Just a guess, but I'm sure there are other uses for a "24 hr bag" other than GT stuff.

The 24 hour packs I would use were issued by my old unit before I transferred. I was always told to not worry about getting one, that they would take care of me. Now that I don't belong to that unit, I need to get one together myself.

For what?  Comm work?

There will be a little GT Individual Equipment course, going over the requirements and best practices on the e-Learning site (http://www.pawingcap.com/educ/).  I am looking for some folks that have a lot of experience with this and some awesome gear to share info and pics...

OK, I'm sorry and I'm sure this is going to sound nit-picky to some (but frankly I have a lot of time on my hands  right now).

How can you be GT3 and UDF qual'ed and not have the GT/UDF manual, know where to get it or know what is supposed to be in the gear?

>having< your own manual is a requirement for the curriculum and is supposed to be carried >with< you at all times during training and actual. (Some have the BDU pocket sized, some have the letter-sized, and some carry it as a .pdf on a PIM, but we're all supposed to have it.)

I encourage you to nit-pick away. There are no stupid questions. The unit I belonged to prior to my transfer would kiss the butt of any wing staff member. Since I'm fortunate enough to hold a wing position, and a comms position, my unit always made sure I have what I need. Since I've transferred, there's been some bad blood come about, and I've been left with no knowledge. I know, there is no excuse for my not checking on these things myself.
