Maybe, maybe not. Several dark horse options that would be great for our organization, if they put in for it.

When I was at USMC OCS, we learned about "careerists", a universal  term of contempt. In the Corps, one has priorities in this order: mission, unit, Corps, Nation. A careerist has these priorities: himself, himself, himself, himself.

Myrick is the exemplary example of a "careerist. He never makes a decision without carefully weighing how the results of the decision could be turned to his CAP career advantage. IMO. it's pathetic. The opposite of real leadership.

Unfortunately, this is far from rare in CAP "leaders" and a prime reason this  organization has lost it's sense of purpose and ideals and why the dropout rate for Seniors is an astonishingly 25% PER YEAR.

IMO, Homeland Security should have been the CAP's primary mission. As it is, CAP's role  is marginal to non-existent.

It is what it is.

You do not like CAP's current mission? Work with legislators to change it. This is how our nation is supposed to work.

Are you a Marine? Apply the priorities you have written in your message. Demonstrate them to us.

In CAP you have three missions. Put them first.

When you joined CAP, CAP became your unit. Put that second.

CAP is your Corps now. Put that third.

Nation. Even though you feel that "CAP's role is marginal," when you do the CAP thing, you are still working for the nation.

Well, since we now know the real result (http://www.cap.news/southwest-regions-col-mark-smith-named-caps-next-ceonational-commander/), let's just shut this off.
