I'd like to use web gear of some sort for my 24 hr equipment. Simple enough, right? However, there is a twist--
I want a 72 hour pack that can attach to the back of it!!! :o
Any solutions? Pics, links, and specs would be very much appreciated.
Thanks guys!!!! 8)
Something like the CFP 90 or MOLLE II would be good, but is the reverse of what you are asking. They both have smaller packs that attach to the main ruck.
Those are both sweet packs, but don't suit my picky needs.
C'mon, people, there has to be a way!!

Well, what do you have?
My arsenal isn't much.
I'd like to keep the whole shebang under $200 though.
72-hour gear is base gear. A duffle bag is all you need, assuming it's not in a hard-container in your vehicle.
Lol, very true.
It's more for NCSA's (Hawk, NESA, PJOC) than sorties and missions.

I think I wanna stick to ALICE/MOLLE/PALS, just because of their versatility.
That looks like a good setup though.

What particular gear do you have already?
I have Alice Y suspenders, an Alice Pistol belt, a few MOLLE pouches, a small molle recon pack, and a good-sized backpack with some MOLLE webbing.
I've got all kinds of canteens and camels with covers.
I'm not going to worry about $$$$ till I know exactly what stuff I need. Starting from scratch is not a problem.
Sounds like you're done.
Ok, here's my working idea...
24hr gear:Alice pistol belt with pouches and butt pack + camelbak.
72 hr gear: Large pack that camelbak fit into or over; does not impede access to pistol belt
Can it be done?

Yes you unclip the buttpack from the belt and clip it to the top of the pack when you're using the large pack.
See my suggeston in "Best gear Bag you own for CAP or other", concerns www.guerrillapacks.com (http://www.guerrillapacks.com) Votaj pack. All in one and dividable.

I use to loosen the back strap on the y suspenders and throw my large Alice pack on top. It worked but not something I would do much more than a mile on easy terrain.

THANK YOU! someone else who understands!
That's how I approach 72 hour gear when I do field work
Generally, one would arrive at base camp with both 24 and 72, dump the 72 in a corner or leave in a vehicle. Wear the 24 going out. 72 doesn't need to go out with you, you'll get some kind of billeting or bed down instructions at base camp anyway.
Personally, I've used a small "assault pack" for 24 hour stuff, my 72 is in a ruck. The 24 hour fits on top of the 72, I can carry both at the same time easily. But, as some above have said, a duffle is more than sufficient for 72 hour. Someone I know drags a commo trailer, and he considers it his "72 hour pack." He's gonna bed down in it anyway, gotta keep an eye on the gear.
