Practically speaking, I think the underlying reason is that you can't really require members of a volunteer organization to own too many different types of uniforms.

Raivo,
I agree with that.  But the big V could put out a darn good PT uniform (shorts/tshirt combo) for about $20.  It would be our cheapest uniform combo when compared to BDU's or service/mess dress.

That's what I bought mine for. Now if life, school, and work would slow down, I might get to attend a meeting and use it...

I do some PT in this one. At $8.50 it is a good deal.

I searched for the topic but I don't see it being previously addressed.

Considering how much PT is stressed in our cadet program, why don't we have a uniform for PT?  We've been doing PT 2-3 times a month in our squadron.  Right now our cadets are showing up in all sorts of different PT gear, and in all different colors.  This isn't a huge issue, but it's always been something I've wondered about.  Personally, I think we would look a lot better and more professional all wearing the same items.  Does anyone know why this isn't something listed in 39-1?

Because we're not as rich as you are?

If everyone is in BDUs and the Cadets take off the jacket and boots, put on their $200 running shoes and we got PT   8)

How about ABUs? >:D

One reason for white or lighter colors is that a lot of squadrons do PT at night...

Basically the only PT uniform item cadets would have to buy is blue shorts. They already have white T-shirts. And who cares if they wear all different brands of sneakers. However in northern states in the winter each Wing should know what outerwear is needed for the mile run. Most all other PT can be done indoors.

Looking at it the other way...

A Ground Team all of them dressed with these vests will not have to worry about using attraction techniques in a night search, they will be their own attraction technique. Either that or will not need to set up their Christmas Tree!
