Post by: MSG Mac on January 30, 2021, 01:49:49 AM
Question came up Does the Young Marine Program equate to JROTC for the shortened promotion criteria?
Asking for a friend.

CAPR 60-1 specifically states JROTC and does not list any equivalencies for JROTC. If any other cadet program were to be granted accelerated promotion rates, it would be listed.

Now, Marine JROTC would be accepted.

As stated above, Marines JROTC and Young Marines are not equivalent.

JROTCs are federally-sponsored, where as the Young Marines and YMCA Indian Guides are wholly corporate.

^^ I believe the question was in the context of accelerated CAP
promotions (1/2ish time for JROTC/ROTC), not for potential military grade.
