Title: Changes to Login & Registration
Post by: NIN on February 28, 2022, 08:17:09 PM
In light of recent drive-by porn posts and other forum spam, I've turned on verification for new accounts in SMF as well as the ReCAPTCHA for logins.  There's some doubt as to whether it works correctly, but if it doesn't work for your login ping someone (I'm easily reachable via email. People know how to find me) and we'll get it sorted.

But this spam crap is getting out of control.

Also, in the next couple weeks we will probably be updating the board to the latest version of SMF. That may ("may") elicit some weirdness in any customizations or extensions (ie. Tapatalk).  No matter what, we need to get off this Release Candidate version of the forum due to some stability issues.

More to follow.

Thought it was a new look at how to hold a fundraiser...

I think I've cleaned it up...  there may be 1 or so posts that mistakenly got nuked in the process.

I said "spam crap" not "Spam,  that crap."

;)

But thanks to Spam for alerting me via email when it happened.

So it seems this has knocked things down ... a little.

We're still getting manual spam (ie. someone with an email, behind a keyboard, in a click farm someplace registering accounts to then spam).  Hard to fix that at the moment.
