Charles Max Roesel "Charlie" passed away August 25, 2020 in Myrtle Point, Oregon at the age of 81 after a long battle with prostate cancer.  He was born September 22, 1938 in Medina, New York.

Charlie was jack of all trades.  After graduating from the school of Mortuary Science in Los Angeles he worked at a large funeral home there.  One day he saw an ad in a trade magazine for a manager for a small funeral home in Alaska.  On a whim, he used the couples income tax return to fly to Petersburg, Alaska to look at it.  The family moved to Petersburg in June 1966.  He ran and then bought the funeral home which he ran for nearly 30 years.  While in Petersburg he was also a bush pilot, commercial fisherman, general contractor, plumber helper and cab driver.  In 1995 he and his wife, Pat moved to California and in 1999 settled in Myrtle Point, Oregon.

Charlie was a man of God and was very active in the Seventh Day Adventist Church.  He and Pat participated in several Maranantha International projects around the country building churches and schools.

Charlie was an Army Veteran and was very active in the Civil Air Patrol (an auxiliary to the Air Force) reaching the rank of Lt Colonel.  He served as head of Coos Bay squadron and as Chaplain.  He was also a Scottish Rite Mason and Shriner.

Charlie was very much loved by his family, he is survived by his wife Pat of 62 years, children Shari Bley and husband Casey, Chuck Roesel and wife Sally and Lois Ford and husband Greg; brother, Paul of Tennessee, and Sister, Carol Berecz of Lincoln City Grandchildren; Sara Stark, John Stark, Luke Roesel, Katie Schenker, Ellis Roesel, Daniel Roesel, Sally Luellen, Tim Ford, David Ford, Emily Roesel and Cloe Roesel.  Step grandchildren Sandy Bley, Jackie Bley, Rhys Kimmel, Ryan Kimmel, Rebecca Kimmel, Amerena Johnson and 11 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his son, Jim Roesel.
