Greetings!

Well, it's been quite a busy month for us here in the Maryland Wing, but we did manage to find some time to produce our latest episode of the "Civil Air Patrol Today" podcast.  This episode features an interivew with Maj Gen Robert Smolen, , commander of the new Air Force District of Washington.  Gen Smolen talks with Capt Solomon about the AFDW's role in supporting the Air Force's mission at Bolling Air Force Base, and also discusses how Civil Air Patrol fits into the AFDW's and the USAF's mission as a whole.

This episode marks a first for "Civil Air Patrol Today" as it is the first time the CAP has conducted a radio/podcast interview with its parent force.

The episode is available on our podcast which can be subscribed to at http://mdcap.org/radio/.

Enjoy the show!

Greetings,

The 26th episode of "Civil Air Patrol Today" is now available on our podcast at http://mdcap.org/radio/. This episode comes to you almost-live from 1500 feet aboard a GA-8 Airvan during the Air Force-observed SAREX of 10 JUN 2006.

Our guests include pilot Maj Pete Loewenheim and co-pilot Capt Charlie Summers of the Hagerstown Composite Squadron, and mission observer trainees SM James Novitzki and SM John Donoho of the Annapolis Composite Squadron.

During this mission, we discuss the capabilities of the Airvan and the ARCHER system, do a little training on the Becker DF system, overfly the crash site of our recent search and discuss the challenges faced during that mission, all the while managing to avoid another aircraft doing a little sightseeing in our search grid.

So put on your flight suits, fasten your seatbelts, and make sure that your tray tables are in the upright position because you're cleared direct to the "Civil Air Patrol Today" at http://mdcap.org/radio/.

And as always, please feel free to give us feedback either right here or drop us a line at info@mdcap.org.

Enjoy the flight!
