Title: Commanders/Cadet NCOs
Post by: glm705 on November 02, 2019, 10:47:06 PM
Could a Cadet NCO be called a commander (i.e. a chief be the Alpha Flight Cadet Commander or a Cadet Deputy Commander), or would that be called either NCOIC or flight leader?

Can a NCO really be called a "Commander"? Or would it be NCOIC? Remember, they're an NCO...

No.

He is addressed as "Chief", regardless, though is role is Flight CC.

A C/Chief is not allowed to be appointed as Cadet Deputy Commander so the point is moot.

Where did you get Chief out of this? There was no specific grade mentioned. He just said Cadet NCO which would be C/SSgt thru C/CMSgt.

Our Squadron simply calls us ex. Alpha Flight Commander, SSgt, TSgt, MSgt, SMSgt, or CMSgt and then their last name

Ex. Alpha Flight Commander MSgt. Smith

Neither a C/SSgt nor a C/TSgt may serve as Flight Commander because the minimum grade for that position is C/MSgt.

To answer the original question, the only NCOs who could be called a type of "commander" appear to be flight commanders in the grade of C/MSgt, C/SMSgt, or C/CMSgt.
