Put your compass on a lanyard around your neck or in one of your front pockets with the lanyard tied to your belt. Various other locations can serve well for a map depending on how large the map is.

Remember that all regulations are applicable at all times. ES operations are one of the most heavily regulated activities we do in CAP.
