QuoteCrews searching for a missing airplane that was carrying four people said late Wednesday they were able to lower a searcher by rope from a helicopter to reach a remote crash site atop a Georgia mountain.
Maj. Paige Joyner of the Georgia Wing of the Civil Air Patrol said Wednesday evening that the site is on Rich Mountain, in an extremely rugged and remote part of Gilmer County.
There was no information late Wednesday on any possible survivors.
The Federal Aviation Administration says the plane, a Beechcraft Bonanza, was reported missing Monday. Three occupants are from north Georgia and the pilot is from Ohio.
The group was on a sightseeing flight after someone won the trip as a door prize at Gilmer High School's 50th class reunion.

Are we typically the people to announce that "No survivors were found"?

Also, I think (hope) that they mean one of the OTHER search agencies lowered their personnel from the helicopter.

Usually we let local authorities make the 1st announcement but after they have done so there is no reason that CAP press releases, etc. can't mention it.
