William "Bill" Vernell Shaw of Greenville, South Carolina passes away Thursday, October 8, 2020, at the age of 78 after a brief battle with cancer.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Shaw. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sandra Ann Shaw; son W. Christian Shaw and daughter-in-law Brianna Shaw; grandchildren, Mason William Shaw, Carter McKinley Shaw; and brother Wynn Shaw and wife Maureen, niece and nephews.

Bill was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 25, 1942. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force and after marrying Sandra, his childhood sweetheart in 1966, he went on to complete his degree in Business and Marketing from Drexel University in 1972. Later in life he worked for Homeland Security protecting the safety of our American skies and in his spare time was a car enthusiast and active member of the Porsche 356 Registry Club. He was a proud grandfather who loved watching both of his grandsons play soccer and he passionately supported his son and oldest grandson in the Civil Air Patrol, an Auxiliary unit of the United States Air Force. He was a senior member of the program achieving the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.
