Does anyone know when the NCSAs for next year (2018) will be announced. Specifically PJOC and NESA are the ones that I am interested.

If you check the NCSA site, you'll see it opens on Dec 1st.

Actually, it seems that several, like PJOC and NESA, have not yet been announced, which is what the OP asked for. They should be announced anytime between now and Dec 1st when registration opens. As always, www.ncsas.com should (but doesn't always) have the most up to date information.

19 days from the scheduled opening of registration. The NESA web page continues to display the 2017 course dates, where updated information would be helpful for planning purposes.

NESA applications do not go through the regular NCSA process. The dates are routinely not announced until the December-January timeframe, as arranging them requires extensive coordination with the host facility and that takes time.

21 November 17. Registration opens in nine days for the 2018 NESA program, and the information has not been updated in the NESA website, including information such as course dates (I have rough idea of the dates, but nothing official), in order to plan attendance and real job vacation time. Certainly these dates are planned years in advance. Coachella, the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, HAI HeliExpo -- these event dates are published years in advance.

Does anyone have insight into why this information is not updated and posted well in advance to allow members time to plan activity attendance?

They aren't, at least not beyond the general sense of the months they traditionally occur.

I've been involved in planning an encampment that has occurred the "last two weekends of April" for 27 years (my involvement about 15),
and literally every year we have to request the dates, the very generous venue has to get them approved, and sometimes
move us around, and because of the transient nature of military personnel, a lot of times it's new people every year.

We're incredibly grateful for everything they do for us, but these facilities generally operate at the whim of
world events and service-training ops tempo. That's how it works when you're a guest.

In a lot of cases, CAP is the lowest priority on anyone's list, literally behind drill weekends, ORIs,
and any of 100 other planned and unplanned things that the Commander of a military facility
has to deal with, and it's touch and go many times to be granted access at all.

Which is worse? Setting a date well in advance that winds up being wrong, outside the control of the activity coordinators,
or waiting until they can be more sure?

All three of the events you mentioned are for-profit enterprises, Coachella is $429 a person, not including lodging and meals.
Onsite lodging (in a tent), which includes breakfast and a "snack", is $4,250 per person.

Want NESA to be $1000-1500? Hold it at a for-profit venue and stay in a hotel, then you can book well in advance, and maybe even use Priceline!
It's going to be at least $2k for meals and lodging, plus the cost of the venue and instructors, etc.

Did you not read the last post?  The NESA application is completed separate from the NCSA applications.  Thus, it does NOT open in 9 days.  To apply for NESA, you will go to eServices, click on Operations, click on NESA Main Menu.  This is where you will apply for NESA once the activity opens for applications.  As stated earlier, it won't typically open until sometime closer to January.  So cool your jets and information will be forth coming when the school releases.

I understand about vacation planning, but the NESA directors are most assuredly trying to get that information finalized and released.

My thanks for the thoughtful, articulate, respectful responses. Given such helpful members, it removes all mystery as to why we have such a massive surplus of members... oh... yeah... not so much.

To follow up on the NESA discussion, the dates have been announced. 14-28 July, 2018. I hope to see some of you at Atterbury [emoji41].
