I made a CAP Firefox theme. I hunkered down for many an hour today to create this for you guys.
It changes the navigation buttons and the throbber (thinking) circle button
NOTE: THIS THEME REPLACES THE DEFAULT THEME!! SAVE THE ORIGINAL FILES TO A SEPERATE FOLDER BEFORE YOU INSTALL!!
Installation is simple...
Copy the file Toolbar from
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Chrome\Classic.jar\skin\classic\browser\toolbar.png
into a separate folder for safe keeping. (You may need WinRar to open Classic.jar)
Then do the same for both of the Throbber files in
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Chrome\Classic.jar\skin\global\throbber
Place the new Toolbar file here
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Chrome\Classic.jar\skin\classic\browser
Place both of the new throbber images here...
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Chrome\Classic.jar\skin\global\throbber
AND
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Chrome\Classic.jar\skin\classic\browser
Restart Firefox and enjoy!
AGAIN, THIS THEME REPLACES THE DEFAULT THEME!! SO IF YOU WANT TO SWITCH BACK TO THE ORIGINAL DEFAULT, SAVE THE ORIGINAL FILES TO A SEPERATE FOLDER BEFORE YOU INSTALL!!
Note, change to file folder, put the throbber.png in BOTH the global AND browser folders
By the way, sorry for not making it installable. I tried for hours but couldn't get the code right. If someone really really wants to take a crack at it, I can send the files and stuff.
How about a 'before' and an 'after' screen shot so we can see how it looks?
(I'm one of those look before you leap kind of guys.)
Before

After

Has anybody tried it out yet? Comments?
Isn't anybody gonna say something? I made this thing for you guys.
Thanks, but no thanks.
There. I said something.
SARKid,
I appreciate your effort to try to provide something for us to use, but as a non-user of Firefox I am still scratching my head and wondering exactly what this is about.
Also, freely given is just that...no expectations of anything in return, including thanks. While thanks are always nice to receive, asking for them is never considered good form unless you are trying to teach your children proper manners.
In the meantime, keep up the good work of trying to promote CAP to other members and outsiders. I for one truly appreciate your enthusiasm and motivation.
Wasn't asking for thanks, just wanted some feedback on what people thought, how it could be made better. I only said "I made this for you guys" to try and provoke a response of any kind. I didnt care if it was positve or negative, I just wanted some sort of feedback at risk of sounding like an attention hog (not trying to be). And, as made by your posts, I got that.
Remember only perhaps some 20% of users are using Firefox. Most probably don't use themes. I used to use Noia, but in order to keep things lightweight, I don't use themes anymore. I have far too many extensions that I use for web development.
Looks nice and good initiative, but not my cup o' tea. ;)
What is Firefox?
An internet browser that's a heck of a lot better than internet explorer.

I've installed the theme on my home machine, and I think it's pretty clever. I'll give it a few days to make a final judgement.
Nice work.

Thank you!
Love it. Thanks for all your hard work. Good job. Put it on my laptop and desk computer.

When I try to click on the Classic file, it says it is invalid or currupt.

Thats because its a .jar file. You need to rename the file with a .zip or .rar (if you have WinRar). If you cant see the file extensions in the file name, go to the control panel, folder options, view, and uncheck "hide extensions for known file types". Once you've renamed it, you should be able to open it. A .jar file is the same as a .zip or .rar just by a different name.
Looks nice, I might even get firefox for my laptop, just so I can have that theme. It looks really cool.

You'll like it. Firefox is a lot better than explorer. Uber more user friendly, has a great download manager, the best security, and I personally think it runs a little faster than explorer. Thanks for the compliment, enjoy!
Bump for an acceptable reason
I consolidated the files, finally figured out how to install them, and made the process of adding the theme a heck of a lot easier. This should also stop Firefox from deleting the theme whenever it updates.
- Download this file
http://resdon111.googlepages.com/CAP.jar - In Firefox, go to tools, add-ons, themes
- Drag the CAP.jar file into the window and it will automatically install
- Restart Firefox, chill before serving, and enjoy
definetely something to sport around on the squadron PCs/Laptops :P
Enjoy it! Tell your friends! I'm trying to figure out a way to distribute it a little more widely.

go to an office supply store and get some 3x5 cards print on them, do a "before & after" screenshot and put a title at the top saying "Civil Air Patrol Firefox menu theme" then your B&A then down at the bottom put "Like what you see? You can get it free at http://website.com" and put this on your squadron website or something whatever. Heck let caplopedia link to it as well.
Another update -
I realized that I set the version set incorrectly, and the theme didn't work above Firefox version 2.0.0.7 (current is 2.0.0.13). This new file should be valid until version 3.0
Here's the new file, same link as before.

Firefox is a lot better than explorer.
Perhaps, provided you don't mind that a number of websites don't properly display in Firefox...
As for security, it's not necessarily any better there either. The simple fact is that IE is the most popular browser in use. As such it is more frequently targeted. Not to mention, as with any other application, it is vulnerable simply from users not making required updates/configurations.
The only problem I've ever had is that I can't watch Netflix movies on Firefox. But thats pretty minor and is the only problem I've had after using the system for a couple of years.
