So,  I have a unit in my group that is about to be transitioned to a flight...

The problem is that there is a severe lack of guidance in this whole realm...

I can find that flights must have 8 members and that they can be assigned to squadrons, groups, or wings.

Here are just a few questions that pop into my head.

Does service as a flight commander count as command service?
Does a flight maintain financial independence or do they surrender their funds to their supervising unit?
Are flight allowed to have equipment, etc assiged to them?

And whatever other changes that we should expect, would be great

Command of a flight is counted as command service however, wear of the command badge is not authorized.  (current squadron and group/cc only)

A unit chartered as a Flight may keep its own finances under the Wing Banker Program and CAPR 173-1.  Of course YMMV.

A unit charted as a flight may be assigned equipment;  as long as there is someone able to track it.  This would probably be done at the wing, group or squadron level though.

Best thing to do.  Start recruiting more members!
