Folding the U.S. Flag - 3 stars rising?

I recently received a Camp Anaconda flag as a gift.

While looking for a display case, I saw at least one reference to "3-stars-rising" in regards to how the flag is folded and displayed, but I can't find any reference in the flag code or on common sites with folding instructions.

The flag I have, folded on base in Iraq, >does< have the "3-stars-rising" on the one side.

I was once told that when folded only 5 stars should be showing...but I have never been able to accomplish that feat.

I have been an advisor to our Color Guard team for some time now, and we have also trained with the Patriot Honor Guard on base.  They have trained us on exactly how to achieve the "three star" fold.  It does take a lot of practice, but so does everything else with color guard / honor guard.

In the Old Guard, yes, the 3RD United States Infantry out of Ft. Myer where I folded at least 100 flags over a casket for a dead service member, we always had 5 stars showing when we passed it to the officer who passed it to the chaplain who passed it to the next of kin.
