Personally, I'm sad to see the Facebook group overtake Captalk. FB really is unsuited to the kinds of long, detailed conversations I've enjoyed over the years on this board. But maybe that makes me a geezer (even though technically I'm not really old enough to *be* a geezer)...

FB is just so insipid.

Attachment 9 of CAPR 40-1 Civil Air Patrol Senior Member Education & Training Program gives a comprehensive list of which military education classes that count for PME Equivalency for CAP, and which tier of credit they provide.

Per AR 350-1 Army Training and Leadership Development, the Advanced Operations Course (AOC) provides JPME 1 credit.  Per CAPR 40-1, Attachment 9, any designated JPME Phase I College, provides Tier 5 equivalency credit for CAP.

The Volunteer University Module Summaries (Updated 10/24), show which modules in each level will receive equivalency credit for Tier 5. It will list PME 5 in the equivalency column on the left.

Proof of Professional Military Education (PME) is sent to CAP NHQ at lmmeforms@capnhq.gov for evaluation and entry. You will need to provide evidence of PME completion, your DD-214, course completion certificate, or transcript are all viable options for proof. I would recommend you submit it through your squadron Education and Training Officer.

There is no specific required format in which to submit it. Some people say just 'send everything' and let NHQ figure it out, but they are pretty busy and don't know all of the potential course names. Personally, I recommend the following format when submitting it:

SM [John Doe], CAP ID [123456], served in the [INSERT BRANCH] during which time he graduated from the [NAME OF COURSE], the [INSERT BRANCH]'s [INSERT NAME ON CAP CHART]. In accordance with CAPR 40-1 Attachment 9, I understand that completion of [INSERT NAME ON CAP CHART] provides Tier 4 Professional Military Education credit. I have attached a copy of the course completion.

Name: [John Doe]
CAPID: [123456]
PME: [INSERT NAME ON CAP CHART]
PME Tier: [INSERT TIER]

Quick Edit:
If you already have credit at a tier from another PME, there is no benefit to submitting new courses at the same tier level. You can verify which tier you have credit by looking yourself up in Member Search in e-Services, and going to the Training tab. Under Professional Development, if you have credit for a tier, it will say TIER X PME with the date the equivalency was approved by NHQ.

Not sure this is the correct place to post this question, but it is about "education". If this is not correct, a MOD can feel free to move it as needed.

So, I just completed the Advanced Operations Course (AOC). For those unfamiliar with AOC, it is the second half of the Army's Command and General Staff College and a yearlong process. Reservist and Guardsmen attend the first half, Intermediate Level Education (ILE) in order to be educationally qualified for Lieutenant Colonel, and AOC to be qualified for full Colonel. Active-Duty Soldiers attend both in residence in one full-swoop.

Now my question is, I know there is someplace at CAP-HQ that you can send off your Military education documents to, so you can get credit towards Senior Member Professional Development. I remember sending all my education documents there (i.e. NCO Academy, ROTC, Officer Basic Course, Captains' Career Course and ILE) but I can't remember who or where that Point of Contact was.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Also, not even sure if AOC even counts for any credit. I know ILE counts for parts of Level 5 and the Army War College would be like a "Level 6" education so I guess AOC is like a "5.5" education credit.

Regardless, any assistance would be appreciated.

So for the Admins, I'm sure it's been a discussion point, is there an end in sight? I'm sure the cost isn't trivial, not in this economy, and I don't think I've ever seen a solicitation as a member to contribute to server costs either.

Add in every thread devolves into a discussion about uniforms and one or two people here dominating the conversation resulting in no discussion.

Also, apparently people are trying to sign up but are having issues with the email confirmation or something-or-other. I don't know, that's a NIN issue.

I think CAPTalk has been going down in activity since about '07 when we were all talking about Steve Fosset and HWSRN. Whether because of toxic membership (who are now active on Reddit instead of here), changing demographics, or new technology, CAPTalk has been less and less relevant every year. Right now it seems that r/CivilAirPatrol is the place for cadets and younger seniors and Facebook is the place for older seniors and parents.

Seems like this medium is going the way of the telegram and newspaper. Socials have taken over. Darn kids and their fancy doodads...
