Hello, I was just wondering, for my own interest, out of every squadron in CAP, which is the largest, and which is the smallest.

Couldn't find this anywhere, so thanks!

Largest is Anderson Preparatory academy in INWG.

I doubt that you will be able to find the "smallest squadron" very easily. I don't think that they, and CAP at large, would want to advertise that. Also, the smallest unit would probably be a Flight- not a Squadron.

The smallest unit is probably a group headquarters unit - my group only has three members assigned with a couple others doing additional duty.

Oh, good point. I didn't think of that.

Good on 'ye for the raw numbers, but it needs to be said that this is not a traditional squadron.

How many are in that squadron? 400 something?

Asking which "squadron" is the smallest seems kind of pointless when CAP sets the minimum number for a squadron at 15 and I imagine there are quite a few of those. Now if you mean any unit, at one time ILWG Group 1 before it moved south consisted of one officer, then LtCol Fred Rosenberg who is now the GLR CV-Support.

Isn't there only one person in the NESA squadron?

No. Ed and the cc, at least...

Ed who? IIRC, you're a cadet. If so, your referring to an apparent an SM on a first name basis seems inappropriate.

The largest squadron I believe is in COWG. It is a composite squadron with I think 200 cadets and over 100 seniors. The commander was my roomate at NSC this year.

The largest squadron in COWG has 99 cadets and 63 seniors. #2 has 98 cadets and 28 seniors. There is one senior squadron with 15 members and a group HQ with 2.

In terms of cadets, as of this morning here are the 20 largest cadet units:

There are quite a few cadet units with one cadet each, so those would tie as the smallest.

You can find the total number of cadets and seniors as of January 2012 on the Quality Cadet Unit Data Spreadsheet.

Based on that, the median unit has 20 Cadets and 16 Seniors

It's neat to see those numbers, and at the same time kind of disappointing.  Two of the units that I helped turn around would have been #2 and #3 on that list.  A few years later, they're still strong and probably within the top 10%.

The unit I'm commander of, right now, is steadily moving to bump #20 off the list in the next few months.  We're within a few members.

However, it makes you realize that most units are pathetically small, and that most of our cadets are not getting the full benefit of the program, especially past the Mitchell.

Let's also not forget that there is a difference between "on the roster" and "active".

IMHO NHQ should require that attendance rosters be entered into eServices and QCA and similar be based on people who actually show up,
not just who write a check.
