Hello All,

I just came across this message board.  Here is my situation.  I am a private pilot and aircraft owner.  I have been interested in CAP for some time but my work circumstance has recently change and I now hopefully have the time to pursue commitments like CAP.  I am also about to enroll in a A&P program so I do have a interest in flying, maint and just being of service to my community.

I have gotten the brochure in the mail about CAP but it really doesn't tell me much except what cap is and where units are.

My General Question is where do I go from here?

Thanks for any pointers/info

David at Ham Radio Outlet ( www.hamradio.com ) is the gp 3 Comm Officer if you'd like to talk to some local folks who aren't recruiters. You can also go to www.cap.gov and click join where you can access the unit locator.

Your best bet is to check out what the good Captain suggested. The best way to find out about your local CAP unit is to visit them, and see how active they are. If they are not active enough or too active, then check out another unit.

With your particular skill set you are bound to find a unit that CAN and WILL use you.  it is just a matter of not getting frustrated.  Go to multiple units (if they are withing decent driving/flying distance)  your best bet obviously is to look for a unit on an airport.

But, you can't really figure out what we are about until you have visited SEVERAL times.

Dave, come check us out.  If we don't have what you need, I can help you find a place elsewhere.  I have been in CAP for over 30 years and in the Atlanta area for over 25.  Give me a call and I will at least direct you in the right direction.  Our unit is just west of Atlanta (770) 941-6063

Dave...there are some top-notch units around the Atlanta area. Where do you live?

I am a member of the Peachtree City-Falcon Field Composite Squadron and I can say that I am happy as a "bug-in-rug" with how much professionalism and enthusiasm is shown by my fellow Senior members and the dedication and desire of the cadets.

Dave,

The other gentlemen belong to fine Atlanta-area squadrons.

I'm a member of the Peachtree-DeKalb Senior Squadron, we meet at PDK airport on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month.

If you'd like to discuss opportunities, training, or anything else about CAP, don't hesitate to PM me!

Cheers

Dekalb Cadet Squadron meets on Thursday at Peachtree Dekalb Airport from 1900-2100. What part of Atlanta do you live in?
