Has anyone enrolled?

Would someone from CAP be eligible if I sent them my Transcripts from Maxwell-Gunter?

Thanks...

Be careful, it didn't work for the National Commander.

What did he try to enroll in Army distance ed?

Anyway.....yes you can enroll.  It is open to the entire DoD Community.  Are you looking for something particular?

What courses do they offer?

Easiest way to find out is to write, e-mail, or visit their web site for enrollment criteria.

Eligibility requirements from ACCP home page:

Eligibility.  The Program is available to U.S. Active and Reserve military officers, warrant officers, and enlisted personnel; Reserve Officers' Training Corps, National Guard Officer Candidate School; West Point cadets; and authorized Federal civilian employees. Non-U.S. citizens employed by the Department of Defense (DOD) are eligible but must contact AIPD to obtain a student identification number before enrolling.

I've taken more of these courses after I got out of the Army, as a CAP member, than when I was actually in.

You can register as "Other."

But you need to be able to get into AKO.....

If you know any Army/USAR/ARNG, and they are willing to sponsor you with an AKO account, you can enroll.

They register you in AKO, and assign you a login and password.  If you have a unique name, its first.lastname@us.army.mil if not, you will have a number after your name, like john.smith152@us.army.mil meaning that there are 151 others with that name.

You enter the portal, and have access to a number of resources (to include correspondence courses) AND an email address. incidentally, this is a backdoor way to get into the AF Portal.

A .mil web address is a "nice to have" as it lends more credibility to your emails, particularly when interfacing with other agencies or military branches.  It's kind of hard to take something like "studmuffin@aol.com" seriously.

the only drawback is that as a sponsored member, you have to change your password quarterly, as you won't have a CAC card.

A word of caution to anyone taking ANY military correspondence courses: You are a CIVILIAN-please register as such: depending on the service, and the course you take, someone might check.  These courses are a privilege, it would be a shame to have CAP lose it, and give our members another "self-inflicted wound."

I didnt see "Civilian" listed but there were like 20 "DoD Civilian" options including the USPS and the National Park Service.

They need correspondence courses because they can't take the time to go to AIT, and they would look funny in different uniforms than the Army. . . . .
