True... And thanks everyone so far.  Let's just say it's a barrel of laughs when the cadets leave for the night.   >:D

I'm pretty sure the tradition is that the person that gets promoted is supposed to ring the bell at the bar to indicate they have an announcement to make.    >:D

Make sure you have your hat on when you do this too. It's bonus points! >:D

LMAO I'll take a good fun E-Club over the O-Club any day.

Stonewall

Dude, nothing beats a good e-club!  Most dudes don't go there because its faux pas, but I always end up having a blast. Cheap "entertainment" and walking distance. What's not to live?

Hah! I remember when I was an E4/O2...Specialist/1st Lt.  About 18 years ago...those were the days, getting confused for a cadet. Yeah, that'll never happen again.
Serving since 1987.

At a lot of USAF bases there aren't e-clubs and O-clubs anymore. Just 'the club'.

And those barely survive.

Considering the prices they charge for things and depending on where you are at the service that's not a surprise.

Most they use for bingo, high school proms (cough cough Charleston), and for ALS graduations

I was referring to what they charge for certain refreshments which is horrible and again depending on the club the service is sub par as well.

All those things are remnants of a bygone era.  It was convenient for a base to have bowling alleys, movie theatres, grocery stores, shopping malls, and a bar when bases were more remote and there wasn't existing infrastructure surrounding it.  In today's "capitalist" climate, I'm surprised that the plug hasn't been pulled on AAFES, and the recreational activities on the bases that don't make money.  Seriously, what is more socialist than government run, subsidized, groceries and entertainment?

With the business encroachment on bases today, there are very few that still have the separation that would "require" such services.  Want to have lunch, or a drink after work?  Head to the local outside the gate...

Devil Doc

I know the base i was on still had an E Club and an O Club. E-3 and below went outside base, i didnt like the outside spots alot of Desert Yetties were hungry on Pay Day.

Marine and Navy bases are way different then Air Force bases. For starters, there may be only 4-5000 personnel assigned to an Air Force Base.
Camp Pendleton has about 10 times that many...

...and still the three different clubs all consolidated into one facility so that the back end/kitchen/staff could be shared between them and it's business is not what it used to be.

Devil Doc

Ya the "CLUB" sucked anyway. We only went to them when we could not leave base, Libbo from Field Op, ETC. I always played the Babysitter anyway, to many drunk marines. They loved it when they woke up the next day with 20+ holes in there skin, because i couldnt hit there veins for an IV, being drunk myself. They woke up screaming, a bee stung me in arm like 20 times it hurts, LOL. Priceless.
