Advice for the new recruits?

Hello, I was wondering if you guys have any advice for new recruits on the do's and don'ts of CAP or just advice in general. I am a fairly new recruit, so I was wondering if I and any of the new cadets could get advice. Thank you.

Don't be THAT guy.

Spend time with the materials provided to new members, get comfortable with online systems like eServices, the test system, and Ops Quals.

Look through the regulations and pamphlets, and get comfortable with searching them and being more then "scanner-qualified" in regards to
how they are written, and remember that they "say what they say, nothing more, and nothing less...".

Dive into your respective regulations, know 39-1 like the back of your hand,  and if you are a cadet then know when to pick and choose your battles.  Since you are new you need to focus on learning to follow, PROPER uniform wear, and customs and courtesies.  Above all be open minded and learn.

My best advice is to remember that the old adage "You get out of it what you put in to it" definitely applies to CAP.  The more you participate, the harder you work at it, and the more you care about it, the greater your experience will be.

Thanks guys, (and girls) it really helped me out. If you guys have anymore advice I'm all ears! Whether it be funny or not, it's all good advice to me, like I always say: "The best type of advice, is the advice that puts a smile on your face!"

IIRC, that particular senator is a PITA, anyway, and was being so just because she could. The general was being polite in the usual GO manner, and she felt put out.
