The interesting thing to see will be "if" the other Services can get behind the Congressional mandate and adopt this uniform as the sole field/combat uniform.

Apparently the USAF has already said "no":

Yeah, they'll say "no" until Congress makes them say "yes". ::)

Actually they didn't say no.  They will wear it in theatre but retain the ABU tiger stripe pattern for wear in 'garrison.'  Did anyone actually read the article? ??? >:D

Thank god I'll be getting ready to retire by then. So no Scorpion pattern here for this guy.

Said for Army missions only.  With the drawdown JET taskings are dropping.

Several of my members are AD AF and wear the new pattern on a daily basis, and not deploying. . .

Which base....because I know that there are the rules.....and there are the rules.

Lots of AFSOC types sporting what ever they want.

Bottom line is....at this time....the USAF is not mandateing a change.

AFSOC and AFGSC have approval to deviate from the AFI to a degree.  I can tell you tgat the JET taskings are decreasing.

Which makes me wonder, did the Army make this decision on their own?  Or did the all branches get together to make the decision on the OCP?  If the Army acted alone, I wonder how well that is going to go over if the Marines decide they do not want that pattern?

Congress needs to pass a budget on time every time and start saving funds across the board and actually doing their jobs before telling the DoD one uniform for all by this date.

Yes it would be bad if the Army jumped the gun on this.

I'm cheap, I'm planning on wearing my UCP/ACUs until they wear out or September 2019 gets here, whichever comes first.

I'd buy that....they were also the first ones to go to BDU's way back in the 80's before everyone was authorized them.

Someone call me when the Chaplain's assistances are sporting OCPs.

The way the Army got around the whole "all branches must have the same combat uniform" is that is only required if any of the branches develop a new came pattern and go to it. Scorpion was already developed and owned by the Army so technically it isn't new. It was a loophole in the NDA

AFGSC is allowed to deviate to a degree so you are probably seeing the cops in multi-cam which was approved for them a couple years ago.

That said the rest of the AF won't see or wear Multi-cam or Scorpion patterms for wear unless they deploy down range.
