There is going to an really big airshow coming up in October.  It is called "Wings over Houston" and will be held on October 25-26.  Civil Air Patrol will be having a big booth there, along with some cadets getting a chance to ride in a C-17(myself included hopefully).  If you are bored and looking for something to do around that time, you might want to seriously think about enjoying the weekend with your family there or helping CAP out with their exhibits.  Check out the website:

I was part of the flight crew that brought CAPFLIGHT 9914 (the Airvan based at ADS) to the KRND (Randolph AFB) airshow last year. We got the royal treatment as performers (though all we did was a static display) courtesy of the USAF. Billeting, courtesy car and an 'attitude adjustment' at the Auger Inn (the basement bar at the Randolph O-Club). And we weren't treated like redheaded stepchildren.

Not sure if they'll bring in the GA-8 to Wings Over Houston but there are a couple of glass-cockpit 182s in the Houston area they might put out on display.

It's gonna depend on if they're wanting to bring the Airvan over. Still too early to tell.
