One of the requirements to take a Form 5 Checkride is:

CAPS 72-5 on page 10 states:

Logbook to show 14 CFR 61.57 recent flight experience requirements have been met for carrying passengers.

Is this to carry passengers during daytime, nighttime or both?

Thx!

You ask a question about flying and its crickets.

Someone asks about what shoes to wear and 10 responses the same day.

CAP in a nutshell. Its always about the uniform. LOL

Or maybe we treat flying questions with a bit more respect and wait for the right answer to show up instead of guessing.

Or some/many of us just don't know the answer...

I see the OP answered their own question as did Bob. Just for posterity, the reason for the requirement is that the check pilot will be a passenger. Therefore you need to show that you are current to carry passengers per 61.57(a). And, since most F5 checkrides occur during the day, then you don't need to be current to carry passengers at night. Unless the F5 is at night and then you would need to be night current. Could your check pilot agree to be PIC for your F5 checkride? Sure (I think so). But is it a good idea to be taking a checkride when you presumably haven't flown enough recently to be current?

But isn't the Check Pilot a CFI, and not just a passenger? In which case currency requirements not needed as per FAA. But yes, CAP has its own way.

The better explanation may be that CAP doesn't want a rusty pilot showing up, hasn't flown in over 3 months, wanting a F5, and possibly wasting the Check Pilot's time. Let a rusty pilot get with a CFI and knock the dust off before scheduling that F5. :)

Passenger isnt the best word.  The Check Pilot/CFI isnt acting as PIC.  So the member doing the Form 5 needs to be qualified as PIC.
