Would you wear an appropiate dress uniform?

Yes
No

brasda91

We've all seen (Wheel of Fortune) where a member of the Armed Service wears their dress uniform.  Would you wear the AF style uniform (provided you meet weight and grooming standards) or the corporate dress uniform?

This is simply, would you wear "a" dress uniform?

I would have to say no, simply because it doesn't meet any of the requirements for wear of the CAP uniform, as it's not a CAP activity.

The only exception would be if it was a special situation where the show was showcasing you as a member of CAP.  Even then, you might want to get permission from your Commander.

Me being on a game show would have nothing to do with CAP; ergo, no, I would not wear a uniform.  I wear a CAP uniform when I'm representing CAP and when I'm doing CAP stuff.  I don't wear it to social functions that have nothing to do with CAP, or wear it on the weekends or to events just because it fits in with the dress code.  I'd much rather wear my own clothes, thanks.   ;)

I'd go "half-way" because I would want to show my pride in the program.  I'd wear my shirt I got from Vangaurd with the command patch that isn't uniform.  Or I'd wear my CAP Lapel Pin.  Unless ofcourse I was on there for CAP.

I would only wear my uniform if I could bring credit to the CAP.  I don't think a game show would be the right place to do that.

I'd wear appropriate civillian attire. Wearing the uniform might have the Wing or National thinking I was going to share the proceeds.

Yes if I somehow made the connection through a connection to the military, and then only with NHQ permission.

No if I just got there myself with no connection to CAP.

Unless it is related to CAP then I see no reason for a CAP uniform. There is nothing wrong with wearing comparable civilian attire. Maybe a lapel pin or tie tack if you still want something CAP related.

Flying Pig

No, I wouldn't wear a CAP uniform of any kind.

My being on a game show would have nothing to do with CAP so, no I wouldn't wear a uniform.  Smacks too much of wannabeism.

I wouldn't were my uniform on a game show but thats probably because I'd never be on one.

If a gameshow were going to set aside a day for Civil Air Patrol, like "The Price is Right" sometimes does for firemen, police and military for Public Affairs purposes.  You know where the entire crowd was made up of CAP Officers and Cadets in Service Dress...then I woudl say yes.

But, if it is you in BDUs waiting in line at CBS Television City waiting to be on "any show" then I would say no.

Bleh, the Price is Right has gone way downhill since Bob Barker left.  Drew Carey isn't as good as I thought he would be.  The price is wrong Drew!!!

ColonelJack

Well, I tried to get an audition to replace Barker; never heard back from Fremantle Media after sending them a DVD, photo, and resume.  If I'd gotten the gig, there most definitely would've been a CAP day on "The Price Is Right."

Drew Carey's doing okay.  But every time I watch the show now, I think, "I should've at least had a chance!"

You bet I would!  (After I return to CAP).  I hope you read that, SarDragon!

I would wear the Distinctive Service Dress Uniform* (minus the gawdy and ugly service dress coat; I would wear the black leather A-2 instead).

Perfectly appropriate, 100% kosher, and a great way to advertise CAP.

*If the DSU were not in existence, then I would just wear the CAP blazer (with nametag and bullion shield) instead.

Hawk200

I wouldn't see the point of wearing CAP uniform on a game show, unless it somehow highlighted CAP. If that's not the purpose, then there is really no reason to wear it. I might, as suggested earlier in the thread, wear a lapel pin.

Ozzy

Well I probably would with permission from my commander... I've always said if I won a bit of money from something I'd give back some to CAP for being somewhat good to me...

It's not really something that he can give you premission for brah.

I think a well done squadron ball cap or even that polo shirt might get a few minutes of "bander."  Bob Barker used to do it all the time.  He once commented on a shirt from Texas (after all he trained as a Naval Avaitor at NAS Corpus Christi) and always did a few seconds to acknowledge a University shirt.  The "thing" then would be how to respond...

Bob Barker/Drew Carey: "Woah, Civil Air Patrol...Corpus Christi Composite Squadron?  Tell me about it..."

CAP Contestant on the Fabulous 60 Minute Price is Right: "uhhh..."

Some times the "Stars in the Eyes" of being on television nation-wide (even pre-recorded) can cause highly intellegent folks to "see the test pattern" in their mind.

I would only wear the uniform if there was a CAP / AF connection.

The folks who sometimes wear their uniforms, Wheel of Fortune comes to mind,
are there because every now and again the TV show sends a request to the local base for contestants.
