New Summer Activity for Cadets - The NCR Glider Flight Academy

Plans have been approved by the Region Commander to conduct the first North Central Region Glider Flight Academy.

The important details are below:

What: NCR Glider Flight Academy
Who: Open to all qualified cadets in North Central Region, 14 years or older.
When: 08 - 16 JULY, 2011 (Tentative)
Where: Mankato Airport, Mankato MN– Lodging and meals will be at Gustavus Adolphus College in nearby St Peter, MN.
Cost: $800.00 per student.

The academy will be able to accommodate up to 15 cadets and we are planning on providing 30 training flights per cadet. Details about applications and staffing will be available soon.

A separate mailing has gone out to the glider staff members in wings that are part of the NCR Glider Centers of Excellence to solicit glider instructors, tow pilots and flight line staff. Openings may be available on the Academy staff and interested Officer members should contact Lt. Col. Brogren at rbrogren@aol.com

More information will be published on the region website www.ncr.cap.gov (Link available soon) and at the Academy Website www.ncrpao.org/gfa as it becomes available.

Unit Commanders are requested to share this information with their members, especially their cadets. .

In order to establish feasibility we ask that each potential applicant e-mail preliminary, non binding commitments to Major Kim Brogren at  kimbrogren@aim.com. On the e-mail Subject Line write "NCR Glider Flight Academy Applicant"

Please include your  Name, Address, City, State and ZIP code, Email address, Date of birth, CAP Rank and ID, Parent/Guardian name, telephone number, unit name & Charter #, no later than 01 MARCH.

When the Academy budget is approved additional information will be forthcoming and a completed and approved CAPF 31 (APPLICATION FOR CAP ENCAMPMENT OR SPECIAL ACTIVITY) from each applicant will be required NLT  02 APRIL, 2011 and a Board of Review of the selected applicants will be planned in April.
