Kenneth Harold Conrad, 93, of Bristol passed peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, at home. He was born on Sept. 17, 1924, in Queens, N.Y., the son of Rudolph and Violet Conrad (Norton). Kenn served in the U.S. Army on both war theaters during WWII after initially enlisting to fly airplanes in the Army Air Corp. Kenn completed a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1961 and moved to Bristol in 1962.
Kenn was an active member of Civil Air Patrol Squadron CT-058 since 1981 serving as the Aerospace Education officer and achieving the rank of Major in 2012. Kenn was active in his community, as member of the German-American Social Club and worked at local election polls.
Kenn was employed by many area businesses, the latest being the MidSun Group of Southington, where he developed innovative manufacturing processes for silicone tape and high voltage "hot sticks" which allow the handling of powered tension lines.
Kenn is survived by his son, Scott Conrad of Niceville, Fla., seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Kenn was preceded in death by ex-wife, Sonya (Maserin), and sons, Craig and Kenneth E. Conrad.
