CAP role in 1958 Thunderbirds support team plane crash?

This article is about a 1958 crash in Idaho that killed the ground crew for the Thunderbirds.  Apparently the families and others are having a reunion.  It mentions that CAP had some role in communications involving this event, but doesn't go into any details.
