Title: Need a Standard Drill Competition Command List
Post by: xray328 on November 17, 2018, 05:35:47 PM
Hey guys.  Does anyone has a list of standard drill movements for a cadet competition? I just need to get them around a gymnasium and have them end up back in front of the judges.  I've searched all over and can't find anything, wasn't there a standard drill list from our own national competition at one time?  Thanks.

There is one for color guard. If you look in the cadet competition manual, the list of drill commands are given to the drill team commander when they report on the drill pad.

Yeah, I've found several for a color guard but nothing for standard drill.

There used to be 54 standard commands. Now the cadets really need to know what they are doing since they cant rehearse a standard set of commands

Setting this up proves to be pretty difficult, especially while trying to limit inverted line or column formation.

Take a look at CAWGP 60-70, Encampment Training Manual, Chapter 11.
It's available at CAWGCadets.org   Look in the Encampment Resorces.

AFJROTC has a standard 30-step drill list.

Yep, I remember those. I still remember the first 15 after 30 years. After that it gets a bit fuzzy.

This problem with this list is that it leaves out the command(s) that cadet flight commanders and cadets in the flight have the most trouble with. It is column of files from the right (etc.).

Movements such as these are "non-precision" in nature so difficult to grade in a competitive setting.  Also, I'm not sure if these movements could be incorporated in a way which would keep the team members within the bounds of the performance box.

You know, about the only time I see column of files being used is at encampment.
And they usually have their act together by about day 2 since most flights perform this command about 6 to 10 times a day.

We use this one in my squadron all the time, although we do have a sidewalk and fences that we have to get through.
