Title: Unit Aerospace Education Plan of Action (AE POA)
Post by: JC004 on September 16, 2015, 04:37:33 AM
Looking for unit AE Plan of Action samples for ideas.  We have the format....would love to see some well-thought-out plans.

We are happy to share what we develop down the road, for everyone to use.

ILWG has a sample POA on their website:

It's brief but to the point.

MOWG publishes theirs on their website:

Much larger and spanning across a wing, but can be adapted to a lower echelon if you wanted one for the squadron level

I personally like seeing greater detail. I haven't seen a POA from our squadron AEO. I don't even know if he does one. If I can find one of ours, I'll share.

Have you seen the Squadron Training Plan? It's a 24 month plan that lays out monthly AE, Leadership and Drill. Our Squadron decided to start using this format, and each officer started with month 1, so each month I just have to go in and print the next class and activity.

"Monkey drill"  :o

The problem with the Squadron Training Plan is that it isn't easily adaptable outside of the classroom stuff, especially in regard to Drill & Ceremony. If you had a single class of cadets start at Timepoint A, and they all stayed until Timepoint B a year later, everyone would be on the same page. But you get new members or some that don't learn at the same rate as others, and now you're all scattered in knowledge.

Seeing as how this topic is specifically addressing AE, I'll get back to that as to not divert too much away. So far, I have yet to see a squadron AEO follow the STP. It's buried in the Cadet Programs section of the website in the Library. AE is primarily a cadet-oriented program, but I don't think it incorporates enough usage of the Cadet Programs specialties. I'd like to see AE and CP get intertwined more as a specialty. My understanding is that most composite squadron's, while they should have a separate AEO for Seniors and an AEO for Cadets, unless I'm mistaken on that. I've only seen composite squadrons with 1 AEO for the entire squadron, perhaps an assisting cadet, but nobody that I would say is in line with CP enough to formulate an annual training schedule.
