I came across this the other day from our National Vice-Commander:

Quote from: TwitterI had the pleasure of #flying two @vawgcap cadets from #VAWGENC18 on their first Cadet Orientation Ride this week. The wing smartly requested a uniform waiver for temperatures in the mid-90s.

We go through about three months a year where temperatures are triple digits, our cadets would definitely benefit from wearing shorts and a t-shirt during o-flights during those months. Does anyone know how a wing can request a uniform waiver?

This should be coordinated through your Wing Safety Officer.

Your Wing Director of Operations and/or Director of Cadet Programs can easily say "Hey, for summer months, maybe we ought to get cadets into airplanes wearing PTs, for safety's sake."

These are pretty common for flight academies, o-rides, especially gliders, and even NESA MAS.

To get one you just ask.

Ok, safety guy had no idea how to apply for a waiver. There doesn't seem to be a formal process, I suspect we'll just have the wing commander sign off on a memo saying when the temps are over 95 degrees our cadets can wear shorts and a CAP t-shirt for their o-flights.
