IL Wing Summer Encampment Staff

Staff Applications being extended to April 15th!

We still have openings for Squadron and Flight commanders, Squadron Chiefs and Flight Sergeants, SET/ Support Staff, and CLASS(ATS) Instructors.  See instructions below. 



1.  Applications are now being accepted for the following summer encampment staff positions:  Squadron Commanders and Squadron Chiefs, Flight Commanders, Flight Sergeants, Support Staff (Admin/OPS, PAO, Dining), SET team,  CLASS instructors


2.  The 2019 Illinois Wing Summer Encampment will be held 20 July 2019 to 27 July 2019 at Marseilles Training Center, Marseilles IL. Cadet staff will be required to arrive the morning of Friday, 19 July 2019.


3. A. Qualified applicants for Squadron Chiefs  will be a cadet with  with a C/NCO grade of C/MSgt or higher, at least 2 encampments with 1 being at a summer encampment, high degree of self-motivation and professionalism, willingness to invest a large degree of personal time and commitment to the position and the success of the encampment, belief in the core values of CAP (integrity, volunteer service, excellence, and respect), broad knowledge of the cadet program, and the ability to serve successfully as a role model and mentor to the rest of the cadets at the encampment.


  B. The qualified applicant for Squadron commanders and Flight commanders will be a cadet with at least 1.5 years of experience in CAP with a grade of C/2nd Lt or higher, at least 2 encampments with 1 being at a summer encampment, high degree of self-motivation and professionalism, willingness to invest a large degree of personal time and commitment to the position and the success of the encampment, belief in the core values of CAP (integrity, volunteer service, excellence, and respect), broad knowledge of the cadet program, and the ability to serve successfully as a role model and mentor to the rest of the cadets at the encampment.




C.  The qualified applicant for Flight Sgt will be a cadet with a grade of C/SSgt or higher, at least 2 encampments with 1 being at a summer encampment, high degree of self-motivation and professionalism, willingness to invest a large degree of personal time and commitment to the position and the success of the encampment, belief in the core values of CAP (integrity, volunteer service, excellence, and respect), broad knowledge of the cadet program, and the ability to serve successfully as a role model and mentor to the rest of the cadets at the encampment.




D. The qualified applicant for CLASS Instructor will be a cadet with at least 2 years of experience in CAP with a grade of C/CMSgt or higher, at least 2 encampments with 1 being at a summer encampment.  All canidates will have a high degree of self-motivation and professionalism, willingness to invest a large degree of personal time and commitment to the position and the success of the encampment, belief in the core values of CAP (integrity, volunteer service, excellence, and respect), broad knowledge of the cadet program, and the ability to serve successfully as a role model and mentor to the rest of the cadets at the encampment.




E.   Support and SET Staff applicants will be a cadet with a grade of C/A1C or higher, who have attended at least 1 encampment. All will have a high degree of self-motivation and professionalism, willingness to invest a large degree of personal time and commitment to the position and the success of the encampment, belief in the core values of CAP (integrity, volunteer service, excellence, and respect), broad knowledge of the cadet program, and the ability to serve successfully as a role model and mentor to the rest of the cadets at the encampment.


4.. Interested cadets for all positions should complete and submit the following:



Typed, letter stating why you are interested in serving in this position, past CAP and outside accomplishments, why you feel you are qualified for this position, and what you hope to gain personally from this experience. You must e-mail this to the encampment g-mail address before 15 March 2019:  summer.encampment@ilwg.cap.gov


Typed,  letter of recommendation from your home squadron commander or deputy commander for cadets. You must e-mail this to the encampment g-mail address before 15 March 2019:  summer.encampment@ilwg.cap.gov


Typed,  letter of recommendation from a past encampment commander or commandant of cadets (required only if you have not attended an 'A' Type Encampment).  You must e-mail this to the encampment g-mail address before 15 March 2019:  summer.encampment@ilwg.cap.gov



Staff selections will be made at ASAP. When the formal Encampment registration and payment options are announced, you must formally register with the encampment, complete all required forms and make your payment. 





6.  All cadets applying for Staff positions may be interviewed by the Encampment Commander, the Encampment Deputy Commander and/or the Commandant of Cadets.


7. A Cadet Cadre training weekend will be (tentatively) held mid May. Interested cadets should plan to attend this required training weekend. If you can not please note that in your letter of Application/resume.


8.  Applications, resumes, letters of recommendation or supporting documentation for the position you are applying for, should be e-mailed to the Commandant of Cadets at summer.encampment@ilwg.cap.gov.


9.  The Encampment Commander, Deputy Commander and Commandant of Cadets reserve the right to solicit applicants for any position if a qualified candidate does not submit an application by the deadline.
