I have a former cadet who wants to join our local squadron. The former cadet achieved the grade of C/SrA. This former cadet left the program around three and a half years ago. Can this former cadet retain their grade or has it been too long?

His records should still be in the National data base to verify his last grade and accomplishments.

Is he re-joining the same squadron, or is he joining another unit?  It's within five years, so his cadet records should still exist at the unit.  It would be hard to prove C/SrA without paper records if the cadet was pre-online testing.

Yes, the cadet may retain the previous C/SrA grade.  The online record may or may not reflect his previous grade, because the online cadet grade record is still a somewhat recently new thing.  His own personal copy of his records or if his old unit records can confirm his previous grade.  The unit is supposed to be maintain member personnel records for five years former members.  It could be hit or miss whether or not his C/SrA grade is reflected in the hard copy records or if the unit actually retained the record properly.  If you have it in hard copy, but it's not in eServices, perhaps you could send an email with documentation to Natl HQ cadet registrar with a request that they update his records on eServices.  Good luck.  CAPTalk is a great place to get quick answers, and CAP Knowledgbase or your Wing Director of Cadet Programs may be able to give guidance as well for something like this.
